I love riding the bus.
I love the community feel of the bus. I love sharing the experience of traveling from here to there with others.
On the bus I like to observe people, to listen to conversations and to strike up a conversation of my own.
I believe that at least one positive, funny, interesting or inspiring thing happens on the bus every day.
I look for that thing.
And everyday, I find it.
A Wee Bit More About Me
Initially I had intended this blog to be anonymous, I was going for the “this could be written by the person sitting next to you” kind of storytelling, but since I share posts on Twitter I can hardly keep up the anonymous ruse.
“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”
~ Oprah Winfrey
So, for those who wish to know more about me, here is a wee bit of information.
- My name is Sally. I rather like my name. It is a bit old fashioned, having reached its height of popularity back in the 1930’s, but it suites me well. You can check the trend history of your name here.
- I live and work in Portland, Oregon. Portland is a beautiful city and quite easy to navigate without a car. I use public transit to go to and from work and I am a Zipcar member, because there are those times when I just need a car.
- One of the reasons I enjoy the bus so much is because I love listening to people. I am sure that everyone has a story and I am always happy to listen. Studs Turkel is a hero of mine.
- A few things I enjoy other than riding transit are reading with my book club (we met on the bus! Read about that here ), working in my yard, being crafty and creative, throwing parties, planning trips and just trying to be a better person.
“I want people to talk to one another
no matter what their difference of opinion might be.”
